Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is a natural approach to restore and optimize hormone balance using plant-derived hormones structurally identical to those produced by the human body. Commonly sourced from yams, BHRT is designed to help alleviate symptoms of hormonal imbalance such as fatigue, sleep and mood disturbances, and weight gain.
You may be suffering from hormone imbalance if you experience any of the following:
Hot flashes/night sweats
Low libido
Vaginal dryness
Fatigue
Mood swings
Sleep disturbances/ insomnia
Weight gain
Brain fog/ Difficulties focusing
Irregular periods
Skin/Hair changes
Currently, I do not perform pellet procedures.
Hormone pellets contain bio-identical hormones that are the size of a tic tac. Pellets are inserted under the skin in the upper buttock to deliver a consistent, slow release of hormones over several months – mimicking the body’s natural hormone release.
This modality can be convenient, but these can also be challenging as dosing cannot be lowered once the pellet is in place. Pellets are not a good option when first initiating hormone replacement therapy given the adjustments that are needed to reach therapeutic range.
What should i expect?
For those new to hormone therapy and thyroid management, initial lab work will be ordered for you to complete, followed by a follow-up appointment within 2-3 weeks to review labs and initiate treatment. Following initiation of treatment, subsequent labs will be conducted 3-4 months later.
If you are on hormone therapy and stable, visits and lab monitoring will typically occur every 6 months.
This is a cash-based service, and insurance is not accepted. By operating outside of insurance restrictions, I can provide personalized care tailored to your unique needs without limitations. However, standard lab work and prescriptions may still be eligible for coverage through your insurance or FSA/HSA. Please check with your provider for details on reimbursement.
Insurance does not typically cover bioidentical hormones. I work with local compounding pharmacies to make a customized formulation just for you.
Yes, you still need to have a primary care physician. For women starting hormones, regular gynecological exams and mammograms are required.
